Anything Better? Please!

Hey ladies!

I finally uploaded a new header photo... For a change. It is HUGE, I know... I'm still looking for something more interesting, more custom-made, more with a touch of us... If anyone has any ideas, please, let me know!

Have a good evening!

Changing The Header

Hello everyone!

The header of this group blog has been there for a while. Deva suggested a change the other day and honestly I have been thinking about something different, too... So I guess it is time to start a brainstorm!

A new header with images of us (our team members). Is it a good idea? Images with special effects (black & white, coloured, cartooned, or anything like that) may be cool I guess?

And I think putting up pictures (with links) of us (our team members) will add some fun, too. What do you think?

Any suggestions or recommendations? Please comment and let me know! :o)

Happy weekend to you all!!

Welcome Member No.6: Lisa!! :o)

Yay!! We have got our 6th team member!! A BIG WARM WELCOME to Lisa!!!

Lisa is the first writer featured in our "Featuring You" series. Her blog is one of my favourites, and I think it is a favourite of many of my blogger friends. Lisa is a very talented blogger. Her writings are always interesting and easy to read. I got to know our contributor Val through her site (http://thelifeoflisa.wordpress.com). Well I want to say it is really amazing that people got connected and know each other by blogging, even though they have never met in real life. Also, Lisa is a great supporter of this group blog and the blog of my own. I really appreciate it Lisa. Thank you!

Anyway, I wonder if Lisa would like to start with a brief introduction of herself? I am really looking forward to her posts!

Oh, Lisa has just launched her website with her own domain: http://www.the-life-of-lisa.com, It is really COOL!!

Again WELCOME Lisa!!

Best of love,
Fran

Welcome Ana Our New Team Member!

Hi everyone!

I think it is great to see more people join us and share what they think. And a few days ago, I invited Ana (from far away) to join us in our group blog! Ana is also a 20 something blogger, very dedicated to positive writings. I have been reading her blog for some time and I enjoyed it very much. Actually I can even meet some of other team members on the comment board of Ana's blog and that happens quite often! Also Ana is one of our "Featuring You" bloggers, with her great post about comparisons of life.

Welcome Ana from far away!

Feel free to write Ana! No strings attached. You can write about anything you want, at any time, in any way! Your older posts are totally acceptable!

Ladies, Say Hello & Say Goodbye: It Is An Assignment!

Hey ladies!

Life is an adventure. We encounter and embrace new things and we wave and say farewell to the old ones. "Hello" and "Goodbye" are probably two most frequently used words in our everyday life. We say "Hello" to new friends, to our brand-new dresses, to our dreamed jobs, to a great plan, to an original idea. Why? Because we lOVE them! But life is not always about good things to be happy about. Like it or not, we also have to say "Goodbye". Sometimes it is really hard to say the word because it can be hurtful and it just feels much easier to keep holding on. But in some cases, it is wise and usually a good idea to let go. It is a daring thing to do, isn't it? Sometimes it feels like telling everybody else you are leaving and you leave without looking back and actually you have no idea what is going to happen next and there is nothing you can do but keep moving on. Perhaps the goodbye is not forever, but you will never know until you say it and really mean it. Saying goodbye to one thing probably means saying hello to the other. It allows room for new things, for transformation, for exploration, and for better understanding of yourself. In some cases, goodbye is really the end, but a good one!

That is why I write this post. Hopefully it inspires you in some way. I intend to make it an "assignment". In this assignment, I would like to know your "Hellos" and "Goodbyes". Say hello to all the exciting challenges you want to face, and say goodbye to all the things you need to let go: bad habits, the passing of your loved ones, ex-boyfriends, or girlfriends, self-destructive feelings and behaviours, jobs, projects, or thoughts, anything.

But please write them as simple lists. Each can be a list of only one item, or a list of 1001 things. It is all up to you! By the way, for the Goodbye List, please take a moment with each one to really say goodbye. This isn't a catalogue of your fears and faults, this is a ceremony to bid them farewell.

I will show you mine first.

My Hello List:
- Hello my new haircut! Thanks to my new hairdresser. I know I still look stupid now, but less stupid than last time. And no matter what, my hair is growing anyway! (This one is for who I AM.)
- Hello Canada! I almost see you smile and wave at me. Almost! (This one, for my FUTURE.)
- Hello all my team members and all my readers! Starting this group blog is probably the best thing I have ever done! I do not want to say "Thank You!" any more. My gratitude is beyond words. (This one, the last but the most important one, is for YOU!!!)

And My Goodbye List:
- Goodbye my ex! You are so... such an a**hole but thanks for letting me know what and who are the most important to me. (This one is for the PAST.)
- Goodbye my bills! Thank God I finally paid you all for this month! (This one is for the PRESENT...)
- Goodbye biting fingers... I guess I have been doing really well for the past few months, and I do hope I will not get into it again! (This one is for the FUTURE.)

Ooookay ladies... I can only think of such shallow things about my "Hellos" and "Goodbyes", and I would love to hear yours! There will be a follow-up post with all your feedbacks and my thoughts by August 8, 2009!

It is just an experimental project of me, let me know what you think about this "assignment" thing. Or perhaps you have your suggested assignments for us all. For all your lists and suggestions, please comment, e-mail me at fran9719@gmail.com, or write something in your blog and let me know! I will not use any of your thoughts for anything else. It is a PROMISE.

Best of love,
Fran

A Happy Beginning! :o)

Before we start...

Hey ladies!

Besides writing, I have been reading along many awesome blogs by ladies from all over the world, and I finally decided to count "Featuring You" into our group blog programme. I am going to feature some great, well-written, to-the-point posts written by ladies every day. (Or perhaps by guys... Let's see.) Their websites and names will all be listed on the left sidebar of this blog, under the name of "Our Featuring You Programme"!

Today the writer in our "Featuring You" Programme is Lisa from San Francisco. She is currently living in London, and her featured article for today is "Where Is My Happy Ending? [or beginning]"

Here it is. Enjoy reading!

Best of luck and love for your life!
Fran

By Lisa

I see it every day. The young couple strolling through St. James’ Park, pausing between strides in order to share a brief kiss or embrace. That glowing woman on the Underground- her husband clutching onto her waist so firmly, yet gentle, so she won’t fall over or wobble on the fast and jolty tube ride. The foreign couple navigating through the streets of London, map in hand, not speaking a word of English but somehow managing to safely find their way together throughout the city. The man buying fresh roses or freesias from the flower stand around the corner, or the one standing in line at the grocery store calling his girlfriend to ask what sort of wine she wants. The laughs, the smiles. I see love around me everyday, and it is so beautiful.

I have never been one of ‘those’ girls who needs a guy in their life. I have known girls who literally cannot function without a member of the opposite sex glued to their hip, shuffling through relationships as if men are some sort of card deck. I have witnessed female friends very close to me immerse themselves so much in their boyfriends that, tragically, at that very moment when their relationship becomes broken, that same girl becomes lost and almost childlike, completely devoid of any personal understanding of who or what she is. Without that guy on her arm, she knows nothing. It’s sad.

I have learned to enjoy my own company, particularly now that I am living alone in a brand new city. I have never allowed another individual to define me as a person. No guy can alter me to fit the specific mold he wants to create for his girlfriend. I am me, and I have found out (and I am still finding out) who I am, irrespective of any rich or handsome boyfriend. Following this rational thinking trend, I have always tried to do what seems smart, logical, or “morally correct.” Truth is, this way of behaving hasn’t really got me very far. Sure I feel content with who I am and aware of what I want in my relationship, but at the end of the day, I am alone, and yes, I’ll put it out there– I am lonely. Yeah I know, love requires you to take risks... I think it is time for me to become more of a risk taker? I am a good girl, and I have grown up thinking that surely my principled ways will pay off at some point, right? There must be some man out there who is willing to see the beauty in what I have become– the beauty of who I am, where I have been, and where I am going.

I just feel like I am ready to let someone special and long term into my life finally. I am creating the best possible version of myself, for myself and my future, but now I am ready to share that side of me with someone else. Someone to stroll the busy streets of London with, hand-in-hand and exploring the famous sites and creating life-long memories. Someone to cuddle up next to while watching C.S.I reruns. Someone to enjoy a picnic with in Hyde Park, or a visit to the museum or galleries. Someone to travel with and explore unseen sights and foreign destinations. Someone to wake me up with a warm latte first thing in the morning because they know I am much too lazy at 7:30am to fetch one myself from around the corner. Someone to find humor in my lack of direction and ability to get lost in every new city I visit. Someone to tell me that my makeup isn’t necessary, and that my green eyes shine the most when they are free from the usual mascara and eyeliner. Someone to care for, and to care for me in return. Someone to love. Someone to be there. Someone. But not just anyone.

A New Page!

Time for a brand new look! The idea of a group blog has been on my mind for around 2 months and finally...! Here it is!

I have been scrolling down a number of blogs written by thousands of wonderful ladies from all over the world, each of the blog depicts me a vivid image, a unique personality, a way of life which is totally different from mine, and a perspective which is original, creative, and just amazing. My blog reading experience surprised me by showing how different we are but more importantly, how much we share at the same time and it inspired me so.

I eventually came up with the idea of a ladies' group blog, where ladies from all over the world write, communicate, learn, and share. It is going to be a new page, a new start, a new way, for me, and hopefully for you as well, to get to know the world, the life better, and to find who we are.

Ladies, say what you say!

Letters, images, and videos... all welcome!!

If anyone from anywhere wants to participate in this group blog, please introduce yourself : )

Best of love,
Fran
